Professors William H. Swanson and Stephen A. Burns of the Indiana University School of Optometry have received a 4-year, $1.4 million award from the National Eye Institute to develop improved methods for diagnosing glaucoma, a leading cause of blindness and visual impairment that is most severe in the elderly and in underserved populations.  The collaboration between these two research teams will employ innovative methods of neural modeling, visual field testing, and retinal imaging.
